Eartha Kitt, 1927-2008
I was saddened to hear about the passing of Eartha Kitt on Thursday, who died at the age of 81. Here's a clip of some of her work from one of my favorite TV shows:

Mimi Update
I haven't posted anything recently about Mariah Carey. Against all odds, she is still married to that guy who hosted a show on MTV whose name escapes me. And it's possible that she is pregnant-- or not. The photo above is from a couple of days ago in Aspen, Colorado. It's funny that no matter how cold it is, she's still gotta show the boobs. But then again, it's just good marketing sense-- after all, it got her yet another mention on Hollywood Nation.

Merry Christmas
I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas. Hopefully you didn't get too much coal. I just finished watching the Ralphie vs. Scott Farkus fight in a A Christmas Story so I'm hyped. I still can't believe that the wife player-hated on that leg lamp. She knows damn well that she broke it on purpose. Anyway, enjoy the Christmas edition of TNA's Spin Cycle with Mick Foley, Jay Lethal, Robert Roode and Sojournor Bolt with a a special guest appearance by THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!

New Releases
Not much in the new release section this week on the music end. However there is a big release out on DVD this week: A Decade of Decadence, the best of Edge 3-disc set featuring all of his great matches and moments. If not for yourself, get it for Vickie Guerrero's sake.

Trish Returns/Beautiful People Bonus Match
It was great to see WWE legend Trish Stratus return to the ring for one night last night on Raw, as she teamed up with John Cena to go against Santino and Beth Phoenix. She was in good shape and did well in the match. It would be nice to see here return for a singles match at WrestleMania. And speaking of women's wrestling, TNAwrestling.com posted a bonus match of my favorite tag team The Beautiful People vs. Roxxi and Taylor Wilde. Catch it on their website or just click below:

Rock of Love Charm School Finale
And the last woman standing is .... Brandi M. (above) who pulled off the victory on Rock of Love: Charm School and won $100,000. As the most consistently funny member of the cast, she deserved the victory. She also had to overcome the biggest obstacle in the last challenge. The last three ladies had to raise money for the homeless but they got paired with their biggest enemies from the show. And for some reason the enemies (Heather, Brandi C. and Megan) were all dressed as hookers. It was good to have them back though because it added a spark to the show. Brandi C. needs to be on TV every week. Brandi M. got stuck with Megan and her boobs, who tried to sabotage Brandi, but failed. Brandi M. raised the most money and advanced to the final two. Lacey finally got cut as the nation rejoiced. This left Brandi M. and Destiney in the finals and Brandi was awarded the money. Maybe she can use some of it to remove that awful necklace tattoo (why, baby, why would you do that?). Anyway, it was a fun season but now it's on to Rock of Love Bus, which from the previews looks to have assembled perhaps the most skanky cast in the history of man. Can't wait.

Impact Highlights
Couldn't you just put Christy Hemme on a plate and sop her up with a biscuit?:
Why do they want to go and put The Beautiful People on TV with no makeup? Angelina looked a little different without the blue eye shadow, but Velvet looked pretty much the same. And can we finally stop with these "Sarah Palin" skits and get these broads back in the ring?:

Tonight on Impact
The Wrestler
The movie The Wrestler is finally out in some areas of the country (it's not coming to Hollywood Nation's homebase of St. Louis until January). In addition to all of the other great buzz, it also got two more positive reviews this week: Howard Stern liked it and said Marisa Tomei was hot and ESPN.com's Bill Simmons raved about it also. Doesn't get better than that. I'm still amazed that a movie got made about wrestling that didn't have Hulk Hogan in a tutu.

Other new releases this week include Jamie Foxx, Saliva, Anthony Hamilton and Keyshia Cole.

Beautiful People Update
Because you can't get enough of my favorite tag team, The Beautiful People, here are a couple of news items:
TNAwrestling.com just posted a bunch of personality profiles called "Webography", including the following one on Velvet Sky of the Beautiful People:
Looking for the perfect gift for The Beautiful People fan in your family? Check out this autographed plaque from the TriStar trading card company. And it's only a mere 79 bones! Sure beats the hell out of that Old Spice gift pack you're planning to give.

And for all the ladies out there, TNA Wrestling is now offering the official Beautiful People t-shirt (below). Now you can look just like Angelina or Velvet! Well, probably not, but it will be fun trying! Isn't she great?
Jeff Hardy: WWE Champion
Big shout-out to Jeff Hardy, who finally was awarded the WWE Heavyweight title tonight at the WWE Armageddon pay-per-view show in Buffalo, New York. This honor was long overdue, but I'm just glad that they finally gave the guy a chance. Other results from the show:
- Vladimir Kozlov beat Matt Hardy
- C.M. Punk beat Rey Mysterio
- Fit Finlay beat Mark Henry
- Batista beat Randy Orton
- Three of the broads beat three other broads
- John Cena beat Chris Jericho
- Jeff Hardy beat Triple H and Edge to become the new WWE champ

Interview with Rena Riffel
As I've mentioned a couple of times in previous posts, I'm a huge fan of the movie Showgirls (if you've never seen the 10th Anniversary version with audio commentary, it will have you rolling on the floor). One of the stars of the movie was actress Rena Riffel, who played the role of "Penny"/"Hope". Recently she made her own independent film called Trasharella. She was gracious enough to answer the following questions for Hollywood Nation:
1. Can you tell us a little about your movie Trasharella?
I have always wanted to make my own movie. I have been writing scripts and stories for a long time. But, I didn't know how to go about raising money to make them. So, finally I just set out to make a movie and not let anything hold me back from doing it and completing it. I made a very unconventional film and used all my resources to do it. It is about a starlet who becomes a recycling trash bag wearing super hero, Trasharella, in the process of trying to kill the evil Hollywood Vampire (played by the brilliant accordion wizard and vaudevillian comedian, Count Smokula) who destroys starlets. It's a dark comedy, musical, horror, B-movie satire. I tried to make it so bad that it is good. Cuz when I'm good, I'm good.. but when I'm bad, I'm better. A quote from May West. I pay tribute to the bombshells of the past and present, like Marilyn Monroe, Betty Page, May West, Lolita/Sue Lyon, Jane Russell, Pamela Anderson, Anna Nicole Smith, ect. I want to bring back the musicals and the glittering dance numbers of the past.
2. I understand you do some singing in this film. On a scale of William Hung to Mariah Carey, where do you rate yourself?
I have been getting feedback about the songs and once you hear the songs, you go around singing them all day, they get stuck in your head because they are very catchy. There is magic in a voice and some are more likable than others. People have always liked my voice, since I was 7 years old, singing in the church choir. I was signed to Polygram/Mercury Records as a teenager by the famous Ed Eckstine. I would say I rate myself at a Gwen Stefani or a Britney.
3. Former gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey has a role in your movie. Did she talk your ear off about politics during the filming?
No, she is more into having fun and drinking champagne. I think this is Mary Carey's best performance in a film.
4. During your cameo on last season's Celebrity Rehab on VH-1 (while you were visiting Mary), it seemed that Jeff Conaway's spirits picked up when you arrived. Any other interesting stories from that show?
I grew up listening to and watching the movie Grease, so I am a big fan of Jeff Conaway. I was so sad to see him in a wheelchair. He told me he hurt his back while filming the dance number Greased Lightning. But, I think he is an amazing talented actor and I think someone needs to star him in a big movie and get him off the rehab show. When I asked him if he is still acting, he whispered, "of course, that is why I am doing this show".
5. One Showgirls question: Do you think James and your character Penny remained a couple after all these years?
I am actually working on making a follow up movie about Penny and James. But, I bet they had some ups and downs and still both want to be star dancers.. maybe James has his own T-Shirt line by now with the sayings on it like, Life Sucks or something...since he was a student of T-Shirts. But, ya, I think they are still together and they have a child to raise.
6. Any plugs or closing comments?
Trasharella is available on Amazon.com and on Createspace.com. It is truly a gem and the performances in the movie are so funny and amazing. People are loving Trasharella. It is punk rock and raw and homemade. It is sexy and entertaining. It's got these catchy phrases that are now becoming part of an underground culture, people write me and use all th e sayings in the movie. Count Smokula's sayings are so far out and hilarious. Even my Mom is quoting him and Mary and the others. And then when ever you see a trash bag or recycled trash turned into fashion, you will think of Trasharella. I know it sounds crazy, but it's a wild movie.

New Releases
New at the record shop this week: Common (above) with his latest release, Universal Mind Control. I picked it up on Tuesday and listened to some of it at work. The man seems to grow and change his style with each album and this is no exception. The Neptunes helped to produce the CD so you know it's on point. I liked what I've heard so far. You gotta pick this one up.
Also this week: Brandy's latest CD Human and Musiq Soulchild's On My Radio. In addition, The Dark Knight came out on DVD this week. I got the deluxe version at Target that has the DVDs packaged in a Batman mask with 40 minutes of extras that I will never watch. What a fool!
(Common's Universal Mind Control available at amazon.com and the usual outlets)
Kim K's Sister
Wow, I guess big asses do run in the family. Exhibit A, PETA's latest anti-fur ad (above) featuring Kim Kardashian's usually annoying sister Khloe. It's amazing how appealing someone can be when you take away the sass, the backtalk, the headshaking, and the clothes. Props!

JBL Gets Knocked the F*** Out
In perhaps the greatest story that I have ever heard, WWE's John "Bradshaw" Layfield (who has been known for bullying people in the locker room for years) finally got what was coming to him. And from all people, it was former ECW announcer Joey Styles who knocked him in the hell out. Here's the full story from Mike Johnson of pwinsider.com:
"I was told JBL was trying to bully Styles with a lot of condescending comments and actions, including allegedly spilling a drink on Styles on purpose. JBL was more or less pulling a lot of the shenanigans that a lot of of the performers in the company can't stand but deal with since he has the political stroke of being a tenured veteran.
Several days into the tour, JBL (who by all accounts had been drinking) did something that caused Styles to physically retaliate in defense. A number of wrestlers stepped in between them and held the two apart. When JBL broke free, he went towards Styles, who "nailed him perfectly with a pretty good shot" according to one witness, laying JBL out and blackening his eye. There were no further incidents between the two on the tour after that."
HAHAHA!!! The big jackass finally got what he deserved. As one message board poster noted, this is the WWE version of Scott Farkus vs. Ralphie.
Rock of Love: Charm School
Charm School has been kind of dull since Brandi C. left. This is further evidence that she needs her own show. Things don't look to get any better now that Heather has been booted also. Poor delusional girl-- no one wants to buy a shirt with your face on it! Now mine maybe, but not Heather's. I guess she deserved the boot for that alone. Next week: more Brandi-less hijinx.

Celebrity Championship Wrestling Season Finale
I hate to see it go, but this week was the season finale of Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling. After the training session, they actually had three matches this week. It was good to see the return of "M.O.M." Erin Murphy, Trishelle and The Candygirl but that was quickly dampened by the sight of Frank Stallone in drag. In the semi-final match, Dennis Rodman, Butterbean, Screech and Mr. Not So Perfect had a tag team match. From that match the judges picked Rodman and MNSP to have a match to decide the winner. In the end, it was Dennis Rodman, who has actually had about four high-profile matches in the past, who was declared the winner of the show.
I hope they bring this show back for a second season because it was something fun to look forward to each week. Rumors also persist that they might take the show on the road for a tour of live shows. I would surely check that out.

Torrie Wilson Shoot Interview
One of my favorite things in the world is shoot interviews. If you have no idea what a shoot interview is, that is where a wrestler sits down for 2 to 4 hours (sometimes more) and tells the inside stories about their wrestling career and gives their opinions about others in the wrestling industry. Everybody from Terry Funk to So Cal Val to Ric Flair to The Sandman to everyone in between has done one. Last night, I watched the Torrie Wilson shoot interview, one of the latest offerings from RF Video. First of all, this is probably the second most visually appealing shoot ever (right behind the Kristi Myst shoot-- who did hers naked for some reason) just because she is so hot. Her perspective is pretty interesting too as someone who came into wrestling not really knowing anything about the industry and all of a sudden she was thrust into the spotlight. She has good stories on Scott Steiner, most of the WWE Divas, Vince, and a great story about the Undertaker's ex-wife Sara. Add her to the shortlist of people who cried during their shoot (it was perfectly acceptable though). She also managed to smartly not say anything bad about Triple H and Stephanie. Hey, you never know when you're going back. Anyway, I give it a high recommendation. Check out the preview clip below and you can buy the DVD right here:

TNA Spin Cycle
It's a special all-Knockouts edition of the Spin Cycle this week. The guests are Rhaka Khan, So Cal Val, Christy Hemme and ODB. Mick Foley and his family make a special guest appearance with some holiday hijinx. My favorite on the panel is Rhaka Khan. They need to feature her more on Impact-- just not in the ring. Anyway, enjoy the show:

Last Night's Impact
My favorite part of last night's TNA Impact was when The Beautiful People and the fake Sarah Palin (played by Daffney, above, who I hope they bring back) were in Booker T's dressing room and he told Billy Gunn "get those two bimbos and that yak outta here!" (seen below). I'm going to try to revive the word "yak". I also enjoyed Sting vs. Rhino, Booker T vs. Samoa Joe, and the mixed tag with A.J. Styles and Christy Hemme vs. Scott Steiner and Awesome Kong. Is Christy the most adorable human on the planet? Seriously, who is more adorable: Christy or a panda bear? You can't decide! Further evidence in the bottom clip.

New Music
The big release this week is the new Britney Spears CD "Circus". I picked this up at Target on Tuesday. They had the regular version available as well as a "deluxe" version for a couple of bucks more with a bonus DVD of interview and behind-the-scenes footage. I just got the basic one because that's all I need is to pay extra money to hear this broad rattle on about nothing. Anyway, the CD is about what you would expect from a Britney Spears offering: a few good dance songs, two or three destined-to-be strip club classics, a couple of cringe-worthy songs that you wonder how they made the final cut, a couple of slow songs that you will never listen to again, and some nice booklet photos. My verdict after the first listen? It was worth the ten bucks. Find it on sale at Target, Best Buy or the usual online outlets.
Also out this week: Rap legend Scarface "Emeritus" and the soundtrack to the movie Cadillac Records, featuring my boy Mos Def singing. I may have to check that one out.

WWE Diva Update
Ever wonder what happened to former WWE Diva Debra McMichael (former wife of Steve Austin and Steve "Mongo" McMichael)? She has a role in the upcoming movie Gathering of Heroes: Legends of the Seven Swords. She plays the role of "Reina". According to IMDB, she is about 48 years old, so she is holding up pretty well. I hope she does well in her second career.
And speaking of WWE Divas, check out my new favorite, Alicia Fox, formerly the wedding planner on Smackdown. They now have her paired with some guy that looks like Alex Wright on the Tuesday ECW show. I guess I have to start watching that show again:

Weekend Wrap-Up
I haven't posted in a couple of days due to celebrating Thanksgiving, doing some online shopping on Friday and general laziness. In the meantime, here is some stuff that slipped through the cracks:
Dancing with the Stars: Brooke Burke won! Congratulations. She should be back in Playboy within six months. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Rams vs. Dolphins: The Rams didn't get blown out by 40! Talk about progress!
Rock of Love Charm School: Last week's episode was perhaps the best of all-time with Brandi C. spitting and Heather's drunken meltdown. Then they followed it this week with a lame episode where two girls got cut for no reason. I'm changing my prediction and going with Brandi M. as the winner.
Kiana's Flex Appeal: I am watching this right now on ESPN Classic. This reminds me of that legendary block of programming that ESPN 2 used to run with Kiana, Cory Everson's show and Bodyshaping. Never has there ever been a finer block of television. I'm getting all nostalgic.
New Music: Last week Kanye West dropped (decent CD but not a lot of rapping surprisingly), new Ludacris, and finally the new Guns N Roses (I need a second listen).
Hulk Hogan's CCW: Another good episode. This week Danny Bonaduce got cut again. Todd Bridges is still my favorite and keeps getting better. WWE should sign him. I'd rather see him than Triple H.
I hope you had a great holiday. I'll be back on my regular schedule this week.
