Jessie Spano Makes Good
When I saw that Elizabeth Berkley was going to be on the Today Show yesterday, I did a short prayer in the hopes that it would be an announcement about the filming of Showgirls 2. Alas, it was not to be. It turns out that Berkley (most famous for playing Jessie "I'm So Excited" Spano on Saved by the Bell-- and for being in the cult classic Showgirls) is now an author. It's an advice book for girls (Chapter One: Don't do movies where you're naked for the 3/4's of the film). I can't knock it because it's a good topic and it's good to see someone doing something to help others. That's good and all, but damn, give us that Showgirls sequel, woman!
DWTS Season Premiere
Dancing with the Stars is back and thankfully it is Palin-free this season. I didn't think anyone was just absolutely terrible (although Wendy Williams and the radio guy that no one knows were coming awfully close). Standouts included the Karate Kid (I can't believe he's 49) and thick ass Kirstie Allie. I liked Kendra's practice session better because she was doing the stripper dances. Of course the centerpiece of the show was WWE Superstar Chris Jericho. Sure he got robbed by getting two sixes instead of his deserved sevens, but it's early and they are judging low. He didn't do too bad but there is room for improvement. I'm just hoping he doesn't get voted off first like on Celebrity Duets.

Weekend Wrap-Up
UFC: Props to Jonny "Bones" Jones who captured the UFC light heavyweight title from Shogun Rua on Saturday. Even more remarkable, just hours before the fight he chased down a guy (who had broken into a woman's car and stolen her GPS) and held him until the police arrived. Damn, that brother whipped ass all day long.
Ring of Honor: The ROH World Title changed hands in New York on Saturday with Eddie Edwards taking the crown from Roderick Strong. And thank goodness, because God bless him, but Strong was putting me to sleep like I had just eaten a big Thanksgiving meal. Even though they are losing TV, I see ROH gaining a little momentum with the new champ, the Briscoe Brothers heel turn and Princess Mia (!).
Rihanna: Over the weekend Louis Farrakhan dissed Rihanna of all people by saying her performances were "filthy" and that anyone who enjoyed them were "swine". She shot back on Twitter with:
"A minister says I perform filthy, sat and watched the filth, then called U SWINE for doin the same! Haa is that judgment in ur tone?"
Burn. The worst part of this? I got called swine!

Nate Dogg, 1969-2011
I was sorry to hear about the passing of Nate Dogg (Nathaniel Hale), one of rap's most unique and influencial artists. I loved his catchy singing on some of the greatest songs ever, including "Ain't No Fun" with Snoop Dogg, "21 Questions" with 50 Cent and of course "Regulate" with Warren G. RIP.

Raw Is Snooki
I just got back from tonight's WWE Raw show at the Scottrade Center and it was a fun night. Highlights included:
- The Rock OWNED John Cena in that promo. He just OWNED him. I thought he was gonna put Cena on a platform and check his teeth, he owned him so bad. Just a great interview. People wearing their purple Cena shirts were just standing there in shame. As they should be.
- I have to give Snooki props; she looked... well... not entirely undesirable. And that's quite a victory when standing next to Trish Stratus. The angle was well done and Snooki even came through with a textbook Lou Thesz press. I take back all the bad stuff I said.
- Vickie Guerrero is so great. I loved when she was posing for pictures while pinning Trish.
- It was so good to see JR and the King back together. Too bad it was them laying down on the mat together instead of announcing. Please bring JR back. The crowd popped huge for him.
- They really got us by teasing The Rock was coming out to save Cena. It was certainly a Road Warrior pop. People were going crazy and high fiving, only to come back to down to earth when we realized it was The Miz instead of The Rock. They got us all. Good one.
- Overall, a very fun show. Special appearances (JR, Grandmaster Sexay, Trish, Snooki), a good angle (Miz/Cena) and an excellent match (Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan). Can't ask for more than that.

Kaitlyn Returns
I was glad to see Season Three NXT winner Kaitlyn return to the ring on Friday's edition of WWE Smackdown. I was even happier to see her come out in those pants (above left). I think Booker T summed it up best during her entrance when he said "Awwww Shucky Ducky, quack quack". Indeed. Check it here.

UFC Buys Strikeforce
In a surprise move, it is being reported today that UFC (the name brand in MMA) has bought its competitor, Strikeforce. I hope they don't blow it like when WWE bought WCW (almost exactly ten years ago) and totally ruined their invasion angle. They should start off with Brock Lesnar giving an interview on an Ultimate Fight Night then having Gina Carano sneak attack him with a superkick then escape through the crowd (with Mike Goldberg screaming "she doesn't even work here!"). The possibilities are endless.
American Idol Results
It was the first week of voting on American Idol and in a complete shocker, somebody black was voted off. This is becoming more of a tradition on Idol than Coke cups and Ford product placement. I've become used to it by now though. I thought everyone had an average week, except that I thought Pia and Naima were standouts. The goofy guy in the red and black jacket was a complete joke. You know things are bad when the judges are pandering to the audience with statements like "I hope America got that". Like there was something complex to decode from his performance. I got it alright-- he sucked! Week one of the performance rounds and this show is already on my nerves.

Biggy
It's hard to believe it's been 14 years since the death of Biggy Smalls. I'll have to dust off some of the old jams today, like one of my favorites:

Monday Night Raw
Fun show last night. The return of Dolph and Vickie, an appearance by the Undertaker, a good promo by Miz, Sunny goes into the Hall of Fame (!), the return of STONE COLD (which was the highlight of the evening by far) and John Cena's wack rhyme (the worst rapping I've seen since David Silver of 90210). Should only get better with Snooki and perhaps The Rock joining the festivities in my hometown next week!

Guess Who's Coming To WWE...
This just in: The nation's most famous skank is invading the sacred world of professional wrestling. And it is taking place in the hometown of Hollywood Nation no less. According to several online reports, Jersey Shore's Snooki will be the guest star of next week's WWE Monday Night Raw in St. Louis. I'm actually looking forward to this for the entertainment value. On the flip side of this, you just know one of the wrestlers is going to hit that and end up burning. In the interest of time, I am providing these convenient links for local free clinics and urgent health care facilities here in town so the WWE Superstars don't have to go fumbling through the phone book when it's all said and done. You're welcome.

Celebrity Apprentice
NBC advertised that they would bring the crazy with this season of Celebrity Apprentice and I'll be damned if they didn't deliver. What they lack in star power, they sure made up in headcases. At the top of the pack is Gary Busey, who is like the Michael Jordan of crazy reality contestants. There isn't one scene where he doesn't deliver. You know when Lil' Jon almost looks sane, you have reality magic on your hands. I feel bad that David Cassidy got voted off first but at least he got to plug that his daughter works on Gossip Girl about 18 times. It's gonna be a great season. Good work, NBC!

Charlie Sheen
I'd like to put in my two cents on this Charlie Sheen situation. While this recent media tour has been wildly entertaining, he needs to get it together. If not for his own sake, for Duckie's sake. Before Two and a Half Men, no one had seen Duckie since Sixteen Candles and I would imagine his prospects after this look bleak. Duckie has a lot riding on this show and he doesn't need Charlie Sheen blowing this golden opportunity because of his penchant for drugs and young skeezers. Plus, if I see one more reaction interview from Emilio Estevez with that "I haven't worked since Judgement Night" look on his face, I'm going to cry. Playa, come on in the house.

Non-Shocker
And what was Impact's big shocker last Thursday? The big shock was that they didn't show any remorse for totally ripping off WWE's recent Undertaker "2/21/11" skits with their very own "3/3/11" segment promoting the return of Sting. Totally lame. I haven't seen such unabashed biting since Vanilla Ice stole "Under Pressure" to make "Ice Ice Baby"-- and then pretended that he didn't.

It's Britney, Bitch
Britney Spears announced this morning that she will be peforming on Good Morning America March 29th to promote her new album. Looks like she's in good shape again, but have you heard her voice? It sounds like she's been chain smoking for forty nights straight. She's starting to sound like Hulk Hogan. Hear for yourself right here.
