American Idol

Poor Keith Richards. If he watched American Idol last night (and there was about zero chance of that), he probably stared at his screen while repeatedly mumbling "what the fook?" There were some pretty sad performances on Rolling Stone night. In fact, I think the show may have hurt record sales. The only way Tim Urban can stay after his wretched reggae number will be if one of the non-descript girls goes home. There are plenty to choose from. Personally, I liked Big Mike, Paige, and Cristal. Results should be interesting. I'm dreading a group performance of "Satisfaction".

News and Notes

I thought the season premiere of The Celebrity Apprentice was really fun last night. There are three people with a wrestling connection (Goldberg, Maria and Cindy Lauper), so I hope they all do well. Sinbad was hilarious, so I hope he stays too. Donald Trump was off the charts obnoxious (even saying at one point something along the lines of "the women are beautiful-- many of you") and it seems to be rubbing off on his son this season. Joan Rivers in HD is quite the experience. The broad can barely open her eyes now. Anyway, it's a great cast and hated to see anyone go. Alas, poor Carol Leifer was shown the door, but at least she got ten grand for her charity on the way out. It's gonna be a good season... By the way, I was pleased with most of the eliminations on American Idol last Thursday (except for Todrick). Glad that we won't have to suffer through Alex Lambert's mullet anymore. I'm looking forward to Rolling Stone Week coming up... Alright gotta go get some rest for Monday Night War, Week 2.

Gaga and Beyonce Do It Again

Lady Gaga's newest video for "Telephone" (featuring Beyonce) just came out and it's fantastic. These two should be in every video together-- not just theirs, but I mean they should be in everyone's video:

American Idol

It was the guy's turn and the were predictably mediocre. If I had seen one more bland fool strumming a guitar to some lackluster song, I was going to turn to a Full House rerun. The first six guys were dreadful. I wish we could vote all six off. Who outside of their immediate family would buy any of these songs? The last two guys saved the day, especially Big Mike with his rendition of "This Woman's Work" (the Maxwell and Kate Bush versions are above). Who's going home tonight? Take your pick.

News and Notes

It was girl's night on Idol and it was pretty dismal. My remaining favorite, Paige Miles, turned in an off-key performance of "Smile" and could be on the chopping block. I kind of liked Lacey Brown's performance (the girl with the bright red HD-friendly hair) and the homeless looking girl was okay on "Give Me One Reason", although I didn't think it was as good as the judges thought. Anyone of those broads could go home this week. The boys are tonight and they're even worse! What a season... Lindsay Lohan is suing E-Trade because a baby in one of their ads named "Lindsay" is called a "milkaholic". She thinks it's based on her because she has "one-name recognition". Bitch, please. Only if that one name is "Drunkhollywoodbitchwhopissedhercareeraway"... The ratings are in: WWE Raw had a 3.5 and TNA Impact had a 1.0. A trouncing. Impact needs to scamper back to Thursdays. I have a feeling it's gonna go all downhill from here... R.I.P. Corey Haim. A shame.

Monday Night War

Well the first night of the new Monday Night Wars is in the books and I have to give the night to.... Impact. Sure, WWE did what they had to do for business (and I don't blame them) on the Road to WrestleMania but it was a little dull. By comparison, I thought Impact seemed much more exciting. Sure they have bad booking and plotholes you could drive a truck through but if they ever get a booker who knew what they were doing, with their talent they could be on to something. My favorite moments included Sting whipping everyone in the building, Jeff Hardy and RVD's return, Brooke's bad acting, her new mother's boobs, The Beautiful People, Daffney, the X Division match, the army lumberjack match and the main event tag match. In HD, Ric Flair's chest looked like leather and Hogan looked 90. Good night though. Ratings should be interesting.

News and Notes

- Tonight is the big night: Five hours of prime time wrestling from here on out. Ring of Honor on HD Net at 7PM (CST) followed by WWE Raw on USA and TNA Impact on Spike, both at 8PM (CST). ROH is always solid with great in-ring action, WWE is on a roll on the Road To WrestleMania (they will have Vince McMahon vs. John Cena tonight) and TNA comes hobbling to Monday nights on the heals of last Thursday's puzzling show, but they will have the return of Sting and allegedly RVD and possibly Jeff Hardy. It should be a fun night regardless.

- I caught very little of the Oscars last night but congratulations to Mo'Nique, Sandra Bullock, and Katherine "Bam Bam" Bigelow, the first woman to win for Best Director. I would enjoy these things much more if I had actually seen a movie last year (wait, was Batman last year? No?)
